Probably the cheapest place of any to find ladybirds is at jumble sales. Many of these sell books and on occasions they can be excellent hunting grounds.

Since many of these sales are based in churches, with a more mature congregation supplying a lot of the stock then there is always the chance of a major find.

The disadvantages can be that some of the quality may not be that good. Stock that is better can often find other outlets. Also they tend to be reasonably small. This means that they do not usually warrant special journeys unless several can be linked together to form a 'jumble-sale crawl'.

That said the stock would normally be very cheap and it should not be forgotten that this can also be an excellent contribution to a local community.
