  Protecting the Books

Obviously never let your books come into contact with any material that you won't be able to remove without damaging them.

Personally I use a product called TrimSleeve (D & M Packaging). This comes in a big roll and consists of a plastic front with a paper back. This is cut to size and the dust jacket slid between them. Any extra can then be discreetly wrapped round.I find this gives better support to especially fragile jackets than the plastic on its own since the joints of the jacket are supported from the front and back. Obviously this product is not suitable for covering books without jackets.

For much more detailed information and other sources of protective materials check in the rec.collecting.books newsgroup FAQ.
