Introduction

In this series Ladybird focus their attention on several parts of the performance Arts. With a variety of authors and artists this series is held together more by the theme than by the books. The books are aimed at the slightly older readers with some quite in depth material. Again two of the well known ladybird artists of Robert Ayton and Martin Aitchison make strong contributions. Overall in the series the final book sticks out very obviously. It was added much later, 6 years, and diverts heavily from the traditional format of text page-picture page and freely mixes text and pictures together.

The first title in the series appeared in 1966, with the final title published 10 years later. It is very difficult to establish when the series was withdrawn but the latest copy I have would seem to date to around 1983. With the long time in print this series is one of the more common, except for the last title which oddly seems to be quite hard to find.
