This series is obviously closely linked with series 536 - Nature. However, these books are much less of the recognition type and deal with the underlying biological processes. The final three are very obviously much later inclusions into the series and have a very different feel than the earlier books.

None of these books were ever issued with a dust jacket, all titles were issued in standard matt format. It is very dificult to know when the series was withdrawn, although the final three titles, all first published 1980, can be tricky to find even though they are not old, this gives the impression that the series didn't last too long after this date.
