| Introduction People at Work series proved to be another great success judging by the number of books in series 606b. Virtually all the books, apart from two of the later ones, were written by I & J. Havenhand and all the illustrations came from John Berry. This time simplified language was used to reflect the everyday life of various workers from different professions. The last title to be issued in a dustjacket was "The Builder", jackets being over buff boards. Note that even the earliest copies always had the book title running from top to bottom on the spine. Editions following this were published in the standard matt format. It is difficult to say when the titles were withdrawn but from trying to estimate, from the book prices, sometime in the late 1970's. |
