| Introduction A new series that was actually part of a group of series. The ladybird "Easy Reading" books were aimed at early but not new readers. The approach taken was to produce simple text together with pictures which provided a bigger context. Bear in mind that at these early stages the keyword series had not begun. This first series dealt again, like series 522, with religious topics but with much simplified text. The initial five books were all written by Hilda Rostron and illustrated by Clive Upton between 1960-1963. In the late 1970's several other books were added. The first five books came in dust jackets over a buff cover, after 1965 they switched to the standard matt editions. They seemed to stay in print right the way through till at least 1982 when the last book in the series was published. |
