| Introduction The achievments series proved to be another very popular and long enduring series. Even though there were a large range of authors and illustrators the books still hold a very consistant feel. Where series 536 deals with natural science, this series deals with how science affects everyday life. Some titles were revised quite early on, notably Exploring Space, but others continued on with little or no changes. Again this series must have been a godsend to school children everywhere having to do the project work so envogue at the time. The first nine books (up to and including Exploring Space) originally came with dust jackets over a buff cover. They continued using the standard matt pictorial boards until a major overhaul, it is very hard to know when. In 1984, a core six of the titles were totally rewritten and published in a white laminated cover form. |
