The flight series books were all written by David Scott Daniell with illustrations by Jack Matthew. In an age when air travel was still relatively uncommon the aim was undoubtably to give at least some taste of the rest of the world to children. Whilst obviously simplified, it has to be said that the books have dated quite badly. There is a very strong sense of colonialism and in some places it could be said to be just a little patronising.

All the titles would have originally come out with dust jackets. After 1965, when DJ were removed, the books were issued in the standard matt format. It seems that the books never made it to decimal times which would mean that they were phased out before 1969.
