One of the main features of the recognition series is the large number of revisions and reprints that the books had. Obviously, the vechicles featured changed quite dramatically through the years and for this reasons many titles needed modifications to reflect the more modern versions. Although the first title was written by D.L.Joiner the rest of the series were all written by David Carey. Both covers and contents change through the different versions but it should be noted that sometimes the only way to establish the book edition is to manually compare the text.

The first four titles would have originally come in dust jackets over buff boards. The two later titles only ever appeared in the standard matt pictorial style. Since there is great interest by some people in historical vechicles these early titles tend to be in high demand. For that reason, though not desparately uncommon, the titles fetch relatively high prices and sell quickly when they do appear.
