The Party

First published, by Wills & Hepworth, in 1960, this title returned to the style of the others, before Numbers, in this series. Like all this series the text came from Margaret Gagg, this time J.H.Wingfield again produced the illustrations.

Less reliant on the very simple repitition approach and more on a very simple narrative this book shows a definite evolution in the approach to teaching reading. Again there is a little self-publicising with one of the presents being a copy of The Farm.

First editions had a blue ladybird endpaper with dust jacket over a buff cover.Text on the spine reads top to bottom and the title is the last mentioned on the rear flap of the dust jacket.
