Numbers First published, by Wills & Hepworth, in 1959 this title extended the series to try to bring in some early counting. Text by M.E.Gagg with illustrations from G.Robinson. This title does not seem to work quite as well. It ends up being a simple counting book, from 1 to 12, followed by a series of examples of numbers of objects (1 to 12). Unlike the other books it has no attempt at a storyline, and it has to be said, ends up more than a little like a school text book. Early copies came with dust jackets over a buff cover. They also had end papers decorated with the numbers from 1 to 12, though I have reason to believe that very early editions may not have had these. It may also be that because this title tended to be a little dryer than the others it sold less well - whatever - it seems to be harder to get than most of the other titles in this series. |
