| Introduction Perhaps in response to the move towards older children with the major non-fiction series, Wills & Hepworth decided to produce a series for very young children just learning to read. With text by M.E.Gagg this series served as a first step introduction with very simple sentence and bright clear pictures from a variety of illustrators. This series would have all initially come with dust jackets. However, books with loose paper covers and very young children do not mix very well and this makes all the books in this series quite sought after with the original jackets. After the jackets were phased out the series continued for several years (at very least until 1973) in the matt pictorial board format. |
