Book of Garden Flowers First published in 1960, this title sits in between the "What to look for..." set. With text by Brian Vesey-Fitzgerald and illustrations from John-Leigh Pemberton this title directly replicates the format used in British Wild Flowers. The illustrations depict several plants/flowers in a typical setting, whilst a small numbered key allows us to pick them out associated with explanatory text. Since this title splits the "What to look for.." set often the title list on the rear dust jacket flap is changed to move this title next to British Wild Flowers. This can cause some confusion in the ordering of the entire series. First editions are not the last listed title on the rear flap, because of the changes the last title is "...Winter" and Garden Flowers appears between "Wild Flowers" and "Pets". Again early editions came with dust jackets and the old open winged flying logo. |
