| Uncle Mac The Uncle Mac series were all written for Wills & Hepworth by Derek McCulloch, well known to children at the time as a radio celebrity. All the books except the last kept the same illustrator, Sep E. Scott, which gives them a consistant feel. Although they have dated quite badly they still retain some of their charm and their relative rarity makes them all the more appealing to collectors. There is a definate reflection in some of the books of the future direction that the non-fiction series would take. The series seemed to last until the advent of the new logo (1961) with the last book "In the Train" continuing beyond that point even into matt copy days. |
