| Piggly
Plays Truant First published in Oct 1946, as ever with the story and illustrations by A.J.MacGregor and verses by W.Perring. This tells the story of Piggly who gets led astray by his friend Porky into not going to school one day. Instead of heading off to the classroom they spend the day playing marbles. Eventually they come to the beach and decide to go out for a row in one of the boats. Unfortunately they drift out from shore and end up dropping one of the oars over the side. They are only saved when "Old Salt Pork" the lighthouse keeper spots them. He rows out, rescues them and returns them home safely. |
