Runaway
Story and illustrations A.J.MacGregor, verses by W.Perring. My earliest edition is 5th edition, 1950. This is a story about Sandy the pet rabbit, seeing the other wild rabbits playing in the field. Frustrated at being caged she escapes from the hutch when her owner, Michael, comes to feed her. She finds Bobbity the wild rabbit and togtehr they go to a Woodland Picnic Party. But then just as they were all about to tuck into the lovely food, foxy appears. All the creatures hide under the table, hoping that he won't see them. Fortunately he gets distracted with all the lovely food on the table and eats so much that he falls asleep. The woodland folk can hardly believe their fortune and run off to safety. |
