Stories This series became almost the cornerstone for the early success of ladybird books. It was with these that the new era in the publishing history of Wills & Hepworth took off so dramatically. With the bright, attractive illustrations as well as the quite proper storylines they were obviously popular with children and their parents. All books were originally published in dustjackets , being before 1965. Also the earliest edition of all the books (except High Tide ?) were published with the pasted on picture and black line drawing illustrated endpapers. With the advent of books without dustjackets, 4 of the original 18 titles were dropped never to be reprinted. "Jeremy's Day in the Country", "Pippety's Unlucky Day", "Jonathon's Shopping Day" & "High Tide" obviously were not the best sellers within this series. These are amongst the most difficult ladybird titles to get hold of. |
